Forschungsschwerpunkte - Arbeitsgruppe USA
Our major research area is the development of methods of trace element analysis and speciation analysis (the determination of chemical species of elements), and the application of these methods to problems in human health, the environment and biology. Trace element analyses are performed with atomic mass spectrometry, and our methods of speciation analysis are based on chromatographic separation of the various elemental species, usually with HPLC, and their detection by atomic and molecular mass spectrometry. Current research topics include:
Studies on the human metabolism of arsenic and selenium compounds present in food and drinking water.
Development of analytical methods for the quantitative determination of metal-binding proteins.
Mercury and mercury species in petroleum products
Mobility of metals in the environment
